I visited Newfoundland several years ago, but only St. John's and Carbonear, where my mother was born. I fell in love with the island and hope to go back again someday and visit Old Perlican. From: Dorchester ontario Comments: We visited Newfoundland last summer, one of the highlights was visiting old perlican and seeing the house that my grandparents lived. The Burt family goes way back in OldPerlican, originally granted land by the king. We used to visit my grand parents when I was a child so it was wonderful to return and find the place where they are buried, and to see their is a road named after the Burts. We didn't get to see inside their home because the people who own it now were not home. Some day, hopefully. Added: January 22, 2018 |

From: Simcoe, Ontario Comments: We have driven to Newfoundland on two previous occasions. Enjoyed meeting the friendly, interesting & generous people. We visited lovely Old Pelican where we tried to take the back-road to Grates Cove. Got as far as Daniel's Cove where the road became pretty rough. Had a nice visit with the folks there who advised us not to continue on our journey. So we doubled back and took the highway. We look forward to returning this June to visit the more remote areas we missed on our previous visits. Added: April 1, 2017 |
