Lovely website with beautiful pictures. My great-grandmother was Eliza Barrett Froud from Old Perlican. I visited Newfoundland several years ago, but only St. John's and Carbonear, where my mother was born. I fell in love with the island and hope to go back again someday and visit Old Perlican.

We visited Newfoundland last summer, one of the highlights was visiting Old Perlican and seeing the house that my grandparents lived. The Burt family goes way back in Old Perlican, originally granted land by the king. We used to visit my grand parents when I was a child so it was wonderful to return and find the place where they are buried, and to see their is a road named after the Burts. We didn't get to see inside their home because the people who own it now were not home. Some day, hopefully.

We have driven to Newfoundland on two previous occasions. Enjoyed meeting the friendly, interesting & generous people. We visited lovely Old Pelican where we tried to take the back-road to Grates Cove. Got as far as Daniel's Cove where the road became pretty rough. Had a nice visit with the folks there who advised us not to continue on our journey. So we doubled back and took the highway. We look forward to returning this June to visit the more remote areas we missed on our previous visits.

My grandmother Isabella Cooper was born in Old Perlican in 1843 to John and Julia March Cooper. I had the pleasure of visiting their former homesite overlooking the harbor several years ago while on a genealogy trip. It was a thrill of a lifetime. Thank you for this wonderful website.

I had the pleasure of hitchhiking from Regina, Sask to Old Perlican in 1968 with a buddy and worked as gardeners for Dr. Wilkinson. The people were some of the friendliest people I have met, as a whole, even though curious about us off-islanders. I am pleased that the hospital was dedicated to Dr. Wilkenson, a fine man. Best place I could have gone to.

Born in Old Perlican in 1956 and left just before my brother was born (we went to Snow Lake, Manitoba). Haven't ever been back to Newfoundland since. Love this new site - photos are lovely, the layout is excellent, and the sea views in particular are very reminiscent of Cornwall, which I visit regularly. I reckon I must be hankering after the sea! Will hope one day to visit....

I'm the grandson of Elizabeth (Barrett)and Archibald Woodland. I got to visit Old Perlican only once about 1967, although I was only five or six, I remember it as though it was yesterday. Always think about that and hopefully I'll make my way back sometime soon.

Great Website - very informative!
During the summer months I occasionally take a day with family, friends or visiting relatives to drive around the 'Loop' as it is called, taking in the breathtaking view, stopping at craft shops and enjoying a delicious meal at one of the lovely restaurants, especially those in Old Perlican - it makes for a very relaxing and rejuvenating day out!!

I've visited your town and it's a great place. My sister, Marlene Clarke lives in Brownsdale and I've been a few times to Old Perlican and I love the place.
