Just revisiting the site and repeating my enquiry a year or two ago.... I was born in Old Perlican in 1956 and left within the year (my father was the local Doctor - Derek Price). Found this site by accident - I wonder if anyone remembers my Dad or Mum (Vicki) - they always spoke fondly of what at the time was clearly a very distant outpost. Now live in the UK having emigrated/immigrated twice - lived in Saskatoon, Winnipeg, and Ottawa at various times - now 50 miles west of London. Congratulations on your 40th Anniversary too...

I was born in Old Perlican in 1956. My father was Dr Derek Price, who lived with wife Vicki in Westons Bay for about 18 months. I'd be delighted to hear from anyone who might remember them - although Dad sadly died in 1999, Mum is still alive and kicking and living in Gloucestershire (we immigrated and emigrated from/to the UK on a seemingly regular basis!).... Mum is now 82. And I'm 56 - and have never been back to Newfoundland - perhaps soon when I retire !

My father was born in Newfoundland and grew up in and around Old Perlican and although I have never had the opportunity to visit your fabulous town, I will be making the trip next summer in memory of my Dad who passed away this summer (June 22, 2012). After losing his wife in Nov 2011, Dad pretty much lost his will to continue and we found that the only thing that brought the spark to his eyes were talking about his bringing me home to Newfoundland this summer, which had been planned and talked about, but it wasn't to be, so I will make the treck in his memory next summer and can't wait to visit and experience your 'down home spirit' that was my Dad.

My great grandfather on my mother\\\'s side was born in Old Perlican in 1873... Joseph Harrison Barrett. I am doing some research on the family and will be traveling to Newfoundland this summer. Can\\\'t wait to visit your town!
